David didn’t have the best audition, he almost forgot the words, BUT he has amazing talent! He was a little nervous, but that didn’t change the fact that he has a great soulful voice. America can’t wait to see more from David Archuleta.
This season of American Idol is full of talent, discovered and undiscovered. Even though there is buzz around David Archuleta due to his win on Star Search, he won when he was 12 years old. He is now 17. This time around he is more mature and has had those last 5 years to work on his musical talent.
David Archuleta, 17, has been called “The Soul man from Utah,” the “Soul Midget King,” “Mini Motown Monster” and a singing prodigy. David has a natural “soulful” voice that has captivated America through his performances on Jenny Jones, Star Search and most recently American Idol. David won the Junior Singer category of Star Search in 2003 when he was 12 years old.
David Archuleta was born in Miami, Florida on December 28th 1990 and spent the first six years of his life in various cities in Florida. In February of 1997, David and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he lives with his parents, his brother and 3 sisters and 2 cats. He comes from a musical family where his mother sings both Spanish and English pop music, and his dad is a jazz trumpet player. David began singing at the age of 6 when he memorized several songs from the Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert, complete with English and Cockney accents.
